This is the poem I made on January 16, 2009 - the day I asked Jess to be my girlfriend. (But our real anniversary falls on February 8, 2009)

The Falling Leaf That Defied Gravity
Single leaf of autumn fame
Graceful swing without a name
Falling, falling, not a trace
Endless journey to a place
Nearly there, yet far away
Endless depths come into play
Narrow, narrow, no more room
Torrents warn impending doom
What bright light dares to defy
Previous expectations die
Facing death, a second’s reach
Then falls up, the law is breached
Dazzling hand that made the save
Gentle touch which all men crave
Irony laughs and further mocks
Second chances she unlocks
Focus shifts to this young lady
Smiling bright with radiant beauty
Truly flawless; all her forms
Mere existence breaks all norms
And within time, the leaf transformed
All darkened spots are now reformed
Eternal change, it now looks up
True visions flow from fate’s grand cup
…Aided by the young girl’s heart…
…I hope that we shall never part…

We had a short “analysis time” after I read the poem to her inside TGI Friday’s in Robinsons Galleria, and I asked her to guess who the young lady and the falling leaf were.
She replied with: “You tell me.”
And so I told her…
But I told her more than that!
Because I also told her I loved her. <3
